Land of Nod sketch Reasonable Force Residents of various sleepy/student-y/uber trendy (delete as appropriate) North Leeds suburbs could be forgiven for thinking that they've been plagued by an infestation of gnomes, such is the ubiquity of the little pointy red head appearing in their midst. No need to worry; they're not harmful- or so they claim. It's merely the logo for Chapel Allerton's Land of Nod comedy sketch group, which they've been plastering everywhere prior to their recent shows. 'We chose him because we feel he represents a sort of warped Englishness, like us', claims JonnyButler co-writer of the group. 'Yeah- and he also looks mental', adds his partner in crime Mike Nelson. The writing team of Butler and Nelson is completed by the fine acting skills of Simon Lacy and Sarah Wheatley. Despite only been together for just over a year The Land of Nod have notched up an impressive number of performances at Seven Arts, The Otley playhouse, The Basement in York, The Bra! dford Playhouse, The Red Shed in Wakefield and The New Headingley club. Described as 'slick', 'witty' and 'genuinely funny' the quick fire show contains 16 sketches, from parodies of U2 classics to a bizarre but hilarious look at the world of Greek tragedy. The group also have an eye for the comic potential of the current cabinet. 'Warped Englishness' indeed...
